Engraving/Gravure: NOX (Set title: the times of the day)/Nacht uit de set de dagdelen.
From a set of four with the parts of the day. Last plate representing the night: the moon on the top right illuminates the scene, a river landscape with a high coast. Boats on the river. Inscribed at bottom: “NOX” in the center; four lines of text in Latin: “Rebus ubi… / genti.” Numbered on the bottom left: “4” and signed on the bottom right: “Hh sculp.” Published in 1605. Rare.
Engraving on paper, trimmed within plate mark; mounted on paper from the corners; total: 236 x 337 mm; only state; damaged corners, top left one missing. Two brownish stains at the bottom, smudges along the margins. Rare. New Hollstein 79.
