Pages from several booklets from 1634 published in Amsterdam by Pieter Iansz. Slyp. All the pages present text in letterpress and plates by Adriaen van de Venne (?). Images (19) from the first volume: ‘Eenighe brvylofts-ghedichten’ are emblematic representations of love. The others are all from ‘happy-ending’ theatrical pieces; from the second volume: ‘Diana Bly-eyndend-spel, Op de Sin. Ghedenckt te Sterven’ is the frontispiece with a plate representing the beheading of a personage in front of a sultan seated on a high chair; in the frontispiece of the third volume: ‘Minne-beelden toe-gepast, de lievende ionckheyt’ are people gathered around a Cupid standing on a hill; people reading or singing from booklets; frontispiece of the ‘Noodsakelyck WERELD-HATEN op De woorden Christi’; plate introducing the composition: ‘Voor-spel, Eerste Vytkomste’; plate for the ‘Voldoeningh,Op ’t versoeck van Ivffrovw Amira’ with a Cupid handing a booklet to a young lady in an interior; couples wondering in the countryside are represented in the plate introducing the ‘Minnelycke Harders-klacht’; frontispiece and other five plates from ‘HELENA Bly-eyndend-spel’; frontispiece and four plates from ‘ROSEMONDT en RANCILIS and title page and one plate of ‘Pastorel Bly-eyndend-spel van CLORIS en PHILIDA’.
Etching and letterpress on paper; plate mark: ca. 111 x 140 mm; total: 209 x 173 mm; the plates are all in good condition; in some cases there are smudges along the external borders, some dirt and foxing. In a few cases are also worm holes, though not affecting the plates; sometimes are also tears along the external margins, due to mishandling.
