The Italian illustrator and costume designer Umberto Brunelleschi (1879-1949) became very popular in early twentieth century Paris. His artwork was mainly drawn in the style of his contemporary Kay Nielsen (1886-1957), but for this erotic version of the tales of La Fontaine Brunelleschi chose a softer, baroque like style. B2315
