Heidanus, Abraham,
Consideratien over eenighe saecken onlanghs voorgevallen in de universiteyt binnen Leyden, first edition, Leiden, Arnoudt Doude 1676, 144pp., uncut, paper cover slightly damaged.
Abraham Heidanus (Frankenthal 1597-Leiden 1678) minister and from 1648 professor in Leiden; moderate but convinced Certasian. In this book, which would be the reason of his discharge as professor, he opposes the ’20 posities’ imposed by the trustees of the University and the Burgomaster of Leiden on which it was forbidden to lecture. These forbidden positions included the works by Coccejus, Wittichius, Cartesius, Von Wolzogen: the last ‘position’ reads that philosophy is an explainer of the Word of God. Very rare. Only 6 copies of the first edition held in Dutch libraries.
