Antique Vases (serie title)
From a series of engraved antique vases a number of which were after Agostino Veneziano, perhaps in turn connected to similar designs by Giulio Romano. Here is an antique vase with a handle in the shape of an eagle’s talon; female torsoes on the shoulder of the vase, and crab flanked by horned masks on the body. Lettered and numbered at the bottom:’ROMAE AB ANTIQUO REPERTVM / E.V. // M D XXXXIII. // III’
