One of the series of 20 woodcuts on the life of the Virgin, text on verso.
Within a temple, in the centre the high priest Ruben rejecting the offering of St Joachim, a dove in a cage and a lamb, on the right St Anne standing behind St Joachim, clutching her hands.
Created in c. 1504, this stunning woodcut features Albrecht Dürer’s signature monogram on a slate in the lower center of the image.
Used as plate in Dürer’s: Epitome in Divae Parthenices Mariae Historiam ab Alberto Durero, published in Nuremberg in 1511.
[NL] Joachim staat met Anna bij een tafel, waaromheen veel mensen staan. De hogepriester achter de tafel duwt het lam dat Joachim aanbiedt van de tafel af. Deze prent is onderdeel van een serie van 20 prenten, bestaand uit een titelprent en 19 prenten met scènes uit het leven van Maria. Gemaakt door oude meester Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528).
