Unknown engraver after Cornelis de Wael (1592-1667)

[Antique print, etching] The seller of snacks [set of the trades]/Verkoper van snacks, lekkernijen, published mid 17th century.

A man under a tent is selling snacks. Other men conversing on the right. One line of text in Latin below: ‘Offe venduntur… garrula turba dapes’. On verso collector’s mark: Pim van Eekelen (Amsterdam 1923-1984), L.5101. According to catalogue notes, formerly in the collection G. van Tienhoven, Aerdenhout, sold in P. Brandt, June 1968. The print was made in the middle of the 17th century.

Etching on paper, trimmed close to plate; total: 92 x 128 mm, state I/2, in very good condition. Hollstein 53; rare.
