The Prophet Isaiah sitting on a throne, holding a papyrus, surrounded by two youths holding an ornament and an inscribed tablet.

Lettered in the tablet on the top: “Nobilissimo viro DNO Aegidio Renard / Regis Consiliario, rerum bellicarum disceptatori et censori, / Equitatum Cataphractorum et Peditatori et Censori, / Equitatum cataphractorum et Peditum Praetorianum / Archistratego, Regiae supellectilis Recuperatori, suo et ominium bonarum Artium Moecenati / Amplissimo”
On Isaiah’s scroll: “Sacrae Istoriae Acta / a Raphaele Urbin. / in Vaticanis Xysstis / ad puicturare miraculum / expressa / Nicolaus Chapron / Gallus a se / delineata et incisa / D.D.D. / Romae M DCXXXXIX / Cum Privil. sum. Pontificis / et Christianiss. Maiestatis /”

On bottom margin: “N. Chapron / fecit. Romae in Aede D. Agugustini.”

On verso Latin annotation concerning architecture studies. Also from the 17th century.

Etching on paper, trimmed close to plate; total: 255 x 225 mm; some stains, but very charming impression; Robert-Dumesnil 1835-71 VI.217.2.
