On the left, a ruined building and further towards the background other buildings. A river flows in the middle of the composition.

Signed below, on the left with Wieringen’s monogram: ‘C. CW in.’, and on the right: ‘CJV f’.

Numbered on the right: ‘8’.

On verso collectors’ marks of the Amsterdam Rijksprentkabinett [L.698 and 2228a] and of Pim van Eekelen [L.5101].

On the verso bottom right corner a ‘D’ in pencil.

Etching on paper trimmed to plate mark, total: 141 x 195 mm; only state; top left corner restored, otherwise in good condition; with fool’s cap watermark. Hollstein 334, Simon 78.
