Map of Ghent, besieged from December 23 by the Allies under the Duke of Marlborough and taken on December 29, 1708. Numbered lower right: ‘Tom. II. no. 40.’

Titled on the bottom right in Dutch within a cartouche with a legenda referencing the numbers within the plate: ‘PLAN VAN DE BELEGERING EN DE ATTAQUES DER STADT EN CITADELLE VAN GENDT Belegert door de Geallieerde Legers den 22 December 1708…’; on the top right its French translation: ‘Plan du Siege et des Attques de la Ville et Citadelle de GAND….’

This map was previously published by Anna van Beek. It served to illustrate how the war of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714) was proceeding.
