Landscape with a monument on the cornice of the Lutheran swan. Between the columns hangs the portrait of Martin Luther. On a cloth, his name is written out in ornamental letters. Below this is a depiction of the Augsburg Confession. Medallions depicting scenes from Luther’s life are attached to the monument.

Lettered: D= MARTINUS LUTHERUS /Geboren te Eisleben den 10 November 1483, en Aldaar Overleeden den 18 Febr: 1546….

Signed at the bottom: Kerkhof en Kok inv. / de Wit en Jonxis fecit.

On verso collector’s mark of Jan Gerard de Lint (1867-1936).

[NL] Landschap met een monument, op de kroonlijst de Lutherse zwaan. Tussen de zuilen hangt het portret van Maarten Luther. Op een doek zijn naam in sierletters. Daaronder een voorstelling van de confessie te Augsburg. Medaillons waarin voorstellingen uit het leven van Luther zijn aan het monument bevestigd.
