With explanatory title (Sluys) at the top of the plate and written in a cartouche in the bottom right corner: ‘SLVSA teutonicae Flan:driae opp: admodum elegans. 70’. The city crest of Sluis in the top left corner and a blank crest in the right. ca. 1613-25.
This print originates from ‘Lodovico Guicciardini, Descrittione di tutti i Paesi bassi (…), Blaeu 1613 or Janssonius, 1624/25’. This was an influential account of the history and the arts of the Low Countries, accompanied by city maps by various leading engravers. Deys 2001.
Overall size: 24,8 x 33 cm; plate size: 23,3 x 31,8 cm. Very good state. Some age related discolouration. Handlaid paper with watermark.
