Bust portrait of William III (bust portret van Willem III), head turned to the right, bust to the left, looking at the observer, in an oval frame. Based on the grisaille portrait of the king and Stadhouder at the Koninklijk Huisarchief in The Hague, painted by Adriaen van der Werff. Included in De Larrey’s ‘Geschiedenis van Engelandt, Schotlandt en Ierlandt enz. […]’ , published in Amsterdam between 1728-1730.

Signed below: ‘Vander Werff pinxit/ E. Desrochers sculpsit.’ Titled below: ‘GUILLAUME III ROI / DE LA GRANDE BRETAGNE’. Inscribed all around the coat of arms: ‘[..] QU[.] MAL Y PENSE.’

Engraving on paper with broad margins; plate mark: 306 x 179 mm, total: 368 x 218 mm. Despite a damp stain on the upper margin, in very good condition. Muller 247; van Someren I, p. 85; II, p. 33.
