Portrait of William I, Prince of Orange; bust turned to the right, wearing a cap and thick fur-lined mantle, several items and an image of the murder of the Prince in the bottom foreground.

An oval medallion frame with inscription: ‘WILLEM DE I. PRINS VAN ORANJE, enz. enz. enz.’

Below, in the middle: ‘Mierveld Pinxit’; on bottom left: ‘P. Tanjé del. et sculp.’ Lettered in the lower margin: ‘Societ. Bibliopol. Roterod. Excud.’

On verso annotations in pen and brown ink concerning the genealogy of the Family of Oranje. Collector’s mark on the top right, on verso: ‘Dom. Fam. V.Z. / d.d. 1.1.1984’.

Engraving and etching on paper; platemark: 368 x 240 mm; total: 417 x 289 mm; in passepartout; small stain on the top, close to the margin; stain scratched towads the bottom right and a small rust stain in the middle bottom; tiny pin-holes on the outer corners; otherwise in great condition. Le Blanc 40, Wurzbach 59.
