Small print, possibly an ex-libris or a visitation card with a guitar (or a cittern considering the shape of the pegbox) with a staff, a vase of flowers and a motto in German below.

The phrase “Blüht noch höhere Seligkeit auf Erden, Mir kann sie durch Dich nur werden” is in German and was written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), one of the most famous poets and writers. The English translation of this phrase would be approximately: “Even higher bliss blossoms on Earth, but for me, it can only become reality through you.”

In this context, Goethe is expressing the idea that the greatest happiness on Earth can only be achieved through the presence or love of a beloved person. The phrase reflects the theme of love and passion in his writings.
