Plate from the set of 105 etchings designed by Jacob Ernst Marcus and published monthly between November 1807 and July 1816. The plates consist in portraits and/or genre scenes. The prints that are signed and dated are later states. In 1834 the whole series was reprinted.

Study print with a seated young man on the right, drinking and another farmer seen from behind, walking towards the barn in the background. Signed in stipple engraving on the bottom right: “J.E. Marcus f. Januarij 1811”. The original drawing is in the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo. Number 39 from the set.

Etching on paper with margins. Plate mark: 119 x 197 mm, total: 275 x 433 mm; top left corner damaged, but the plate is not affected; some soiling on external margins, otherwise in good condition. Jacob Ernst Marcus Graveur en Tekenaar, 1972, nr. 49, p. 20.
