The Prodigal Son wasting his substance, second plate of a set of four originally published in Antwerp in 1585 by Gerard de Jode. Numbered on bottom right corner: 2. Inscribed below in Latin: “Cum Venere et Baccho male sanus luxuriatur, fundit inutiliter parta labore gravi. Luc 15.13.”

Engraving on paper, remargined; total: 240 x 296 mm; state II/2; some smudges due to handling on margins especially, hole on the bottom left corner, some lacunas are filled in, otherwise in good condition. New Hollstein 297.
