Unknown engraver after Cornelis de Wael (1592-1667)

[Etching/ets] The seller of beverages [set of the trades] (verkoper van drankjes).

A young man selling beverages, these being kept in a barrel carried by horses. One line of text in Latin below: ‘Et libat libatque… detegit ille dolos’. On verso collector’s mark: Pim van Eekelen (Amsterdam 1923-1984), L.5101. According to catalogue notes, formerly in the collection G. van Tienhoven, Aerdemhout, sold in P. Brandt, June 1968. The print was made in the middle of the 17th century.

Etching on paper, trimmed close to plate; total: 91 x 130 mm, state I/2, in very good condition. Hollstein 52; rare.
