Satirical print in response to Mr. Raguenot’s refusal to play in the opera ‘La Juive’, on 6th September 1838.

The audience and the musicians are gathered in front of the closed doors of the Koninklijke Schouwburg in The Hague, where the performance of the opera on this day was canceled.

Titled below: “Représentation du 6 Septembre 1838, cinq heures du soir (…) par ordre de Mr. Raguenot: Rêlache ou Les Cabaleurs Enfoncés!!!.”

On verso, collector’s mark on a sticker: ‘Collectie Dr. J. G. de Lint.’

Lithography on paper, mounted on cardboard; total: 273 x 428 mm; some light staining and smudges, though nice impression. Atlas van Stolk 7323, Muller 6990.
