Kamerijk besieged by the Duke of Parma but taken over by the Duke of Anjou, on 16th August 1581. View of the city from the position of the army of Anjou, in the foreground two generals on horseback to the left. In the background, Parma’s troops leave their positions around the city.

Titled below: “Het ontset van Kameryk door den Hartogh van Anjou in den Jaaren MDLXXXI.”; signed on the bottom right: “Ian Luyken invenit et fecit.”

Plate used as illustration in Pieter Christiaansz. Bor’s “Oorsprongk, begin, en vervolgh der Nederlandsche oorlogen” published in Amsterdam by the widow of Joannes van Someren, Abraham Wolfgang, Hendrick en Dirk Boom between 1679-1684 [vol. 2 (1680), p. 286].
