Frontispiece to ‘Prentwerk’, published 1765. A pedestal, with on top a cupid holding a shield bearing Jonas Witsen’s coat of arms, and a fasces at its feet. A drapery attached to the pedestal carries the text: ‘Viro / Amplissimo, Nobilissimo, / Ionae Witsenio / Ieto, civium Amstelaedamensium / Patri Consuliq / Vigilantissimo, / Omnium atrium ac disciplinarum / Ptrono; / Sed insprimis Picturae ejusq partium / Maecenati & Exercitori / Haereditario; / Huno ceri incisorum Extyporum fasciculum, quasi manuexarata & delineate / Excellentissimorum inter Belgas / Pictorum / imitantium, / eâ quâ par est reverantia / D. i Febr. 1765 / D.D.D / Inventor / Cornelius Ploos van Amstel.’ On the verso the device of Ploos van Amstel (L.2725).
