Bust portrait of theologian Lucas Trelcatius (1542-1602), turned towards the right, looking at the observer. In oval frame, lettered at the top: “LILIUM INTER SPINAS”, within further rectangular frames. Inscribed under the portrait: “LUCAS TRELCATIUS PATER, S.S.Theologiae Professor.” With address of van der AA: “Lugd. Bat. ex Officina Petri Vander Aa.” Included in Van der Aa’s “Fundatoris, Curatorum et Professorum celeberrimorum aliorumque illustrium virorum…” published in Leiden between 1715 and 1716. “.
Engraving with some etching on paper from three plates; with broad margins; plate mark: 350 x 254 mm, total: 420 x 328 mm: despite some light brown stains and very light smudges on the margins, in very good condition. Van Someren 147.
