[Portrait print of Professor Jacobus Perizonius] IACOBUS PERIZONIUS, 1715-1716.

Bust portrait of Jacobus Perizonius (1651-1715), professor of Greek language, History and Eloquence, turned towards the right, with a long hair wig. In oval frame and further rectangular frames. Inscribed under the portrait: “IACOBUS PERIZONIUS Historiarum, Eloquentiae & Linguae Grecae Professor”
Listed among the professors in Leiden, collected by van der Aa in the “Fundatoris, Curatorum et Professorum celeberrimorum aliorumque illustrium virorum…” published in Leiden between 1715 and 1716, nr. 143.

Engraving with some etching on paper from three plates; larger plate mark: 350 x 254 mm, total: 398 x 299 mm; paper in very good condition; traces of previous mountings on verso, especially on top with remainings of an older mat. A tear below was repaired with a paper patch and inscribed in pen and blck ink: “4ne: Perizonius”. Muller nr.4145, Van Someren 147.
