From a set of prints presenting birds, here are four wading birds standing on the side of a river bank, with bullrushes to the right; the birds include an avocet (second from left) and a heron (first on left); amonogrammed on the bottom, towards the right: ‘FB WH’.
On verso collectors’marks: Gustav Friedrich Konstantin Parthey (1798-1872) (L. 2014), the famous collector of Hollar.
Etching on laid paper, trimmed within plate mark; total: 130 x 185 mm; state I/2; on verso traces of former mounting, some shining through glue on the upper corners; some rubbing, but dispite these small imperfections, in great condition. Very nice impression. Pennington 2140.
