An owl sitting on the branch of a tree, while numerous other birds seem to chirp in its direction from other branches or while flying towards it. Signed on lower left corner: F.B. in: W.H.f.
On verso collectors’mark: Paul Davidsohn (1839-1924) (L. 654); a note in pencil on verso referring to the purchase of the etching by Davidsohn in 1863 (Amsterdam?).
Etching on laid paper, trimmed to plate mark; total: 128 x 183 mm; state I/2; on verso some dirt and handwritten annotations. Traces of previous mounting on verso and some reinforcement on the left margin. Very nice impression. Pennington 2134.
