A beautiful hand colored optical print of ‘Het Binnenhof’ in The Hague. ‘Het Binnenhof’ is regarded as the political center of the country. The church-like building in the distance is the ‘Ridderzaal’ (the Knights’ Hall). This building is used for ceremonial gatherings, like the joint session of Parliament. In front of the ‘Ridderzaal’ the French church. This building was demolished in 1879. On the square in front of the building people and carriages. The print is coloured in pastel-like tones. Titled at bottom in Dutch and French: ‘T GESIAHT van ‘T BINNEN HOF SIENDE na de ZAAL en FRANSCHE / KERK. // VUE du DEDANS de la COUR VERS LA SALE & L’EGLISE / FRANÇOISE’. Handwritten inscription on the top, faded.
