[Nieuwjaarswensch / New Years Wishes, 1790] Siebe Hendricksz. Decorative card with Nativity scenes, dated 1790, 1 p.
Rococo decorative print employed as a wish card; handcolored. At the top corners a farm and a church; at the bottom, the Annunciation (boodschap aan Maria) and the scene of the Nativity (geboorte van Christus, kerstmis) with two children peaking in from a window.
Numbered on the top right corner: ‘N. 25′; with the address of the publisher at the bottom: ”t Amsterdam by de Erven de Wed. J. Ratelband en J. Bouwer op de Rooze Gragt Zuyd-zyde, in de Bybel-Drukkerye.’
The inscription testifies that this impression was used as wishcard to the parents of Siebe Hendricksz, in 1790.
The Rijksmuseum has another similar impression (inv. RP-P-OB-207.507) though the plate seems to have undergone serious reworking. It may also be a copy after the present impression.
