[Lithography, litografie] Kenau Simonsdochter Hasselaer, ca 1800-1850.

Lithography after an etching by Simon Fokke (1776) included in an unknown publication (see Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum, inv. RP-P-AO-9-32-1-2). Hasselaer is portrayed on the right, leading a group of men and women to defend the city of Haarlem from the Spanish siege of 1573. Inscribed at bottom: ‘Kenau Hasselaar aan het hoofd der Haarlemsche Vrouwen’. With the address of the publisher: ‘Amand Lith Amst’.

Lithography on paper; total: 128 x 180 mm; damp stains on the top left and on the bottom right corners. Some dirt and smudges.
