Broadside sheet with atop an illustration with Luther holding a book on the left and a Catholic pope on the right, with a model of a church in his hand. It was published in 1706: “The engraved image of Luther and the pope appears to have been in use since the latter half of the 16th century, when it appeared in a series of broadsides describing the debate between Luther and the papacy. This sheet, produced around the turn of the 18th century, was likely marketed as a form of entertainment, and sold for the price of roughly 12 pennies.”
