Jan van der Vinne (1663-1721)

[Antique print, etching] J. v. d. Vinne, De Harreberg Emaus [set: ‘Gesiten buyten Haarlem’], ca. 1680.

Figures at the Emaus Inn. On the right a bridge and in the middle two riders. Bottom right numbered: 5.

Nicely contrasted etching; despite the literature (Hollstein) mentions two states of this print, it is more likely that the states were actually four. Compare the clouds in this etching to those in the print nr. 66660 in our collection.

Etching on paper, trimmed within plate; total: 147 x 184 mm; state II/4 [in Hollstein only until state 2, and yet the third plate with ‘PL55’], in outstanding condition; Pro Patria watermark; Hollstein 5; Nagler 5, Le Blanc 5, Wurzbach 3; in passepartout.
