Session of House of Commons, session of Lords inset. Hanging behind the sitters are large and detailed tapestries. With text aboce on cartouches: ‘HINC GLORIA RECNI, HINC FELICITAS PUBLICA’, and in the middle: ‘HET HOOG-EN LAGER-HUYS VAN ENGELANDT.’
This plate is a later reissue of the portrait of William III printed in 1689, it was later changed in 1702 showing Queen Anne and third in 1727, as here, showing George II.
In this state it was published in De Larrey, Geschiedenis van Engelandt, Amsterdam 1727-30.
With address of the publishers on the bottom left corner: ‘[Cov]ens et C. Mortier.’ Signed on the bottom right corner: ‘R. de Hooge fecit.’
