Bust portrait of the Dutch poet Rutgaert Jansz. The bearded man is wearing a ruff collar. According to the New Hollstein this engraving is probably printed from an engraved silver medallion, which possibly contained another engraving on the verso.
Inscribed on the oval frame: ‘T’GAE SOO GOD WIL’ and ‘R.I.V.D. OVT 60. 1596’.
Lettered in lower left corner: ‘IDGeÿn fe’. The original drawing is in Haarlem, at the Teylers Museum (inv. N90).
Engraving on laid paper with margins; total: 117 x 91 mm; state II/2; some foxing on the paper; Hollstein 312; Passavant 9; Wurzbach 9; Le Blanc 125; Muller 6498, Van Regteren Altena 687.
