Coat of arms of Arnout van Beresteyn. Impressed from a medal, likely in silver or gold. On the other side of the medal was the portrait of Arnout van Beresteyn (New Hollstein 206). In an oval frame with an inscription, a boar is sitting on a large stone. On the frame the inscription, a Latin chronogram (1579) with the name of the sitter, reads: ‘Tres et VICemps Vota CVM Carperet annos, ArnoLdVs faCIe sIC BeresteInVs erat’, in reverse, as it was supposed to be read from the medal.
Engraving on paper with margins; oval plate: 45 x 34 mm, total: 70 x 55; only state; smudges on the top corners and traces of former mounting on verso; otherwise in great condition; mounted on cardboard mat (early Vd Steur cartellino). New Hollstein 207, Bartsch 136.
