Portrait of Johannes VIII, Paleologos in profile, within a double circular frame. The name in Russian capitals within the frame. Signed on lower left corner: ‘IDGheijn excu.’. Mounted on cardboard, at the bottom of which are seven lines of written text in English. Formerly at the Allan Library, then sold at Sotheby’s in London, in 1980, lot. 65. From the catalogue note a very good impression, trimmed along the borderline, a little light foxing, glued down at corners’.

Engraving on paper, pasted down at corners, trimmed within plate, total: 220 x 200 mm; state I/2; in very good condition, despite some light foxing. New Hollstein 235, Wurzbach 12, Le Blanc 124.
