[Antique drawing] Trompe l’oeil still life with playing card and on wood, 18th century.
Items on display: a placard about a cattle auction held in 1679 by the Heer van Waveren; a playing card (Jack of clubs); a frontispiece ‘Facetieuses Inventions D’Amour et de Guerre Pour le divertissement des beaux Esprits’ (after Francois Collignon and Stefano della Bella) and a portrait engraving of Franciscus Pona (1595-1655).
Drawing in pen and black ink and watercolours on laid paper, x mm. Watermark: Pro Patria. Signed in image, lower right: ‘W. Keerwolff’. Edges somewhat frayed, repaired tear along middle fold, two small stains, but otherwise in good condition.

RUINEN (DR.), TROMPE L’OEUIL TEKENING JAN SMITS UIT GOUDA Trompe l’oeuil-tekening met kleur, van de hand van Jan Smits [Gouda 1783] met in het midden een tekening van “Het dorp Ruijnen” (kerk en kerkplein met 7 huizen, bomen, het kerkhofhek en enkele personen). Verder zijn afgebeeld een enveloppe met “Mijn heer Johannes Smits, mr. goud en zilversmit te G…” en enkele blaadjes uit boeken en almanakken (o.a. een boekje over de zeeslag van 1781). 31×40 cm.
