Diana and Actaeon

Emblem with Diana and Actaeon in reverse in respect to the original; the naked nymphs, formerly bathing, hide in a grotto while Diana spurts water at Actaeon who spouts antlers; the scene that was supposed to be on the left, where Acteaon is eaten by Diana's dogs has been omitted. The original is in Bry's 'Emblemata Saecularia' (Frankfurt) from 1592. Signed with initials at the bottom "CLA", according to the cardboard on which the print is mounted, it may refer to Christoph Ludwig Ackermann, also known as Agricola (1667-1719). Rare.
Etching on paper, trimmed wihin plate (?); total: 68 x 80 mm. Mounted on cardboard with pencil and pen annotations. "tired" impression, but charming. Le Blanc 1.
