A collection of drinking songs. With large ex libris of Zijlstra-Buis (pseud. Eric van der Steen).

Starting in high school, Dirk Zijlstra published under the pseudonym Eric van der Steen, a name he used for the majority of his work. In his pseudonym, he wanted to combine euphony (Eric) with firmness (Van der Steen). Zijlstra debuted in 1932 with “Gemengde berichten” and initially pursued his poetic career vigorously. His poetry stands out for its down-to-earthness and dry humor. Many of his books are characterized by fresh, unusual external design. In the 1940s, he began publishing prose. After 1958, his production dried up. Van der Steen was married to Margaret Buis in 1935.
